Back to Gardens I Have Visited Page NJ Flower Show February 2009Although this is not a botanical garden, its the closest I can come in the middle of the winter and I was able to get a lot of reference material for my flower designs. It is held at the NJ Convention Center. Although the fee to get in was $14, which I thought expensive since each of the booths pays a fee. However, I was doing some research online and was lucky to come upon a free pass for 2 sponsored by PSE and G. When we got to the show, we made a slight mistake by standing in the ticket line since we though these were coupons. Actually the page I printed out from the PSE and G website was the actual ticket and all we had to do was walk down the hall and give the ticket taker the pass. The NJ Flower Show is divided up into several main sections. The Garden Club of NJ has a competition for its members, both adult and children, landscapers have elaborate exhibitions and there is a large section of booths selling things (both for gardening and general -- my son bought a set of sheets at one booth). There is also an area in the center where lectures are given about gardening. NJ Garden Club Exhibit There were two different kinds of exhibits for adults. One was vases of flowers including a place setting for dinner and the other was tailgate still lives including vases of flowers. Some Dinner Settings
Some Tailgate Displays
Some Children's Displays
Local landscapers put up some very elaborate displays. In the one below, they not only had real grass and flowers, but tomato plants with ripe tomatoes. I wonder how they got the exhibit there without damaging the plants
This landscaper put up a garden with a fountain.
Another fountain
A Japanese Theme
Beautiful Bird Statue
The largest portion of the show are the booths selling various products, both gardening related and non-gardening related
